Knowledge Transfer: Earth Observation Capacity Building

Through the Mandela Washington Fellowship Reciprocal Exchange Award, African Geospace partnered with the U.S. Department of State, and NASA to deliver an advanced Earth Observation training program in Togo.

The initiative trained government institutions and Ph.D. candidates to leverage satellite imagery for:

  • Agricultural monitoring

  • Forest management

  • Water resource assessment and management

By equipping public institutions and researchers with practical geospatial and remote sensing skills, African Geospace contributed to strengthening national capacity in evidence-based environmental management.

Impact

  • Enhanced technical expertise in satellite data analysis

  • Improved monitoring of agriculture, forests, and water resources

  • Sustainable knowledge transfer within public institutions and academia

This program highlights African Geospace’s commitment to building long-term geospatial capacity and advancing climate resilience through innovation and knowledge sharing.
